Nerf Pinpoint Sight - Review!

Check out the new Nerf Pinpoint Sight!

Yes, this is a reflex sight... and the best part is, unlike the non-functional longshot scope or tactical scope, the Pinpoint Sight actually has a functional red dot reticle!

The Pinpoint Sight is powered by 2 x AAA batteries and comes packaged with 10 x Micro foam darts.

Reflex sights are typically non-magnified optical sights that reflect a reticle image onto a combining glass for superimposition on the target. They are commonly used to aid in quick close quarter target acquisition and due to the long eye relief distance design, can be aimed at arm's length with both eyes open.

The Nerf Pinpoint Sight now offers similar quick aiming capability in a N-Strike Mission Kit!

Of course, compared to real reflex sights, the Nerf Pinpoint Sight doesn't have any of the fancy lenses, fiber optics, tritium capsules or fine tuned calibrations and adjustments etc, but it does provide an interesting way to mount an alternative aiming point for Nerf blasters... and anyways, it just looks cool!

  2. how much is it and where can I get it?

  3. At the moment, it seems to be only avaliable in Malaysia stores (a fellow malaysian nerfer spotted it and informed us). I drove across the border and bought a few sets back to Singapore.

Interestingly, i've not seen it ever being spotted before on the NIC or any websites, so i think its not even sold anywhere else yet!

Anyways, its around the same price as the other N-Strike Mission Kits.

I guess you guys can keep a lookout for it, hopefully it'll appear at a store near you soon. :)

  4. That looks just like the scope on LTX. I think it might be the first fruit of Nerf adopting Lazer Tag?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Does the laser go up and down too? that would make it pretty effective as a ladder sight.

    ReplyDelete
  6. How much did it cost over in Malaysia?

    ReplyDelete
  7. CaptKevin: Yup, it probably borrowed some of the design elements from the LTX blasters. :)

    --

Ehren: The position of the projected red dot on the clear targeting reticle depends on your aiming and viewpoint, so I guess it could be used to guide aiming elevation too.

    --

ambered: The price is RM$29.90 in M'sia.

  8. Hey SG Nerf, you said you bought a few sets back, do you sell them? I would like to get one but i wont be going over to Malaysia anytime soon...

    ReplyDelete
  9. Man I am so getting this add on. :D

  10. There were very limited sets at the stores in JB... and the few sets i brought back were all reserved by NerfSG forum members.

Anyways, hopefully once those stores in JB are re-stocked with Nerf Pinpoint Sights, another shopping trip can be arranged.

Btw, if you are keen, do highlight your interest over at the NerfSG Forum's Trading/MO section. :)

  11. do u know if they are gonna bring it into singapore cos if they are, i would so want to get 1 set

  12. I've no idea when it'll be avaliable in SG either... i guess we'll just have to keep a lookout for it at local stores. :)

  13. Isn't this the same sight that is on the spartan ncs-12 from the video game? could this mean that gun is coming out after all like the raider did?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, i guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. its rilly messed up that its not in the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  16. No news of it avaliable in SG yet, we'll just need to keep a lookout for it at local stores.

    ReplyDelete
  17. does it project a lazor out or does it stop at the lense and does it work in light?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Like most reflex sights, it projects the lazer red dot onto the lens targeting reticle itself for aiming (not out onto the target).

Yes, the lazer red dot is still visible under light (both indoors and outdoors). :)

  19. I saw the Nerf Pinpoint sight in a Fred Meyers in Portland OR (U.S.A.).

  20. can u inform us if it's in singapore? pls

  21. None spotted in Singapore yet. If it does appear in local stores, i'll post an update on this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi, know this is kinda late post.. But can you mention 'where' in JB to get the sights? City Plaza? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  23. In JB, try Metrojaya Danga City Mall or Metrojaya Plaza Pelangi.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Got it.. Will check it out when I can.. Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. i have seen it in a wall-mart in Colorado, US.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Will this sight fit on the Lazer Tag Pistol?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Have it,
    Love it...

Its out in US too! (New Jersey)

    Looks badass on the recon...

  28. hey SG u have helped me b4 and your amazing!!
    i gotta question though.

Where can i buy it in canada? Thank you

    Sean

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sean,

Thats a tough one dude... i can't really help you on that 'cos i've no idea of the stock status in Canada.

If you can't find them at your local dept stores, check out Amazon.com, sometimes they are on sale there too.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If its not in your city go to amazon, hasbro or google it! Im sure you will find it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Is it available in Singapore stores yet?

    ReplyDelete
  32. samyikhong,

So far, Pinpoint Sights have not been spotted in local stores.

But you might still be able to find them at dept stores in JB.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have seen the pinpoint sight in the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have a tip. The pin point sight is great on the Recon CS-6. If you want to use it on the recon, epoxy a pvc half inch end cap on the side of the cocking mechanism and use that to cock it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Can you please tell me where i can get this in the uk other than toysbythebundle.co.uk because i heard that they scam, and I'd rather stay away from ebay?

    ReplyDelete
  36. astro_aodhan,

Sorry, i have no idea of the Nerf Pinpoint Sight stock availablity in the UK.

    ReplyDelete
  37. well thanx for the quik reply dude nm see if i can get this from us on ebay

    ReplyDelete
  38. does anyone know if/when/where it is/will be/may be available in australia?

if not, is it available in all main metrojayas in malaysia?

    ReplyDelete
  39. P13c30fch33s3,

Sorry, no idea of the stock availability in Australia either.

But i do know that Nerf Pinpoint Sights have been available at Metrojaya stores in JB... thats where i got most of my sets from. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Does the red laser dot apear on the lens of the sight or is it just a laser pointer?

    ReplyDelete
  41. P13c30fch33s3,

The red dot is projected from a laser source behind the sight and the image reflects off the plastic lens.

Users aim by aligning the red dot image with the target reticle.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Is the grey structure at the back the laser projecter?

    ReplyDelete
  43. P13c30fch33s3,

Yes, the grey section behind the Pin Point Sight houses the laser projection device.

    ReplyDelete
  44. If that's the case, does the laser appear on the target, and if not, how does it not project past the lens?
sorry for the string of questions, but i'm trying to make my own until I get the real nerf one :D

    ReplyDelete
  45. P13c30fch33s3,

The laser does not project onto the target, it is projected at an angle onto the clear plastic lens reticle instead, which itself is also positioned at a slight angle too.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi,

Can anyone confirm if stock is still available in JB or if it has been spotted in Singapore?

    ReplyDelete
  47. is it available at the jb toys r us in jusco?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Adil,

Last i visited JB Jusco TRU branch a few months back, i didn't see anymore Nerf Pinpoint Sights there.

You'll have to check again and see if they have re-stocked since.

    ReplyDelete
  49. i heard they got discontinued because they were to expensive to make. that makes me sad. I want them to bring them back into circulation because i really want one

    ReplyDelete
  50. does anyone know where to find them in Maryland?

    ReplyDelete
  51. i saw it once in a target where i live i missed my chance to buy it now i cant find it ANYWHERE i should have jumped on it when i first saw it....

    ReplyDelete
  52. smyries,

The Nerf Pinpoint Sight is not available in Singapore, so it has to be ordered from overseas or online. The price should be similar to N-Strike Mission Kits.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Where is the department store in MALAYSIA??

    ReplyDelete
  54. ilyas,

They used to be available at Toys R Us Jusco, Carrefour JB, Metrojaya stores etc, but that was back in 2009.

They have been sold out since, so i guess the only ways to get them nowadays is from overseas stores (if they still have stock) or from online auction sites.

    ReplyDelete
  55. hey can i get 1 from you how much does it cost
    ?

    ReplyDelete
  56. joshuacwm,

I have no spare sets for sale.

    ReplyDelete
  57. what the hell!, it costs $99 ON AMAZON WHAT A RIP-OFF

    ReplyDelete
  58. thomas,

Amazon's various vendor selling prices can vary wildly based on availability and demand. Buyers just have to shop around to get better deals. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. You can buy it for $99.99 on Amazon! -_-

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hi SG Nerf an you please tell me the shop's name where you bout it fom and where in Malysia

    ReplyDelete
  61. NAYLIN,

I got my sets from Toys R Us at Jusco Shopping Centre in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

But that was in 2009... from what i hear, they are no longer available at those places anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  62. So do you know any other places that may have them?

    ReplyDelete
  63. NAYLIN,

No idea, i've not seen them in stores anymore. They are very rare nowadays.

I guess you could still find them available online, but prices tend to be very expensive due to their rarity.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Actually, if you go to usa, will the pinpoint sight be sold in walmart?

    ReplyDelete
  65. ilyas,

I guess you could shop around the stores in the States to find them, though as mentioned in previous comments, they are very rare nowadays.

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's out of stock in Amazon.
It's hard to find in USA.
It can't be found in Singapore.
It no longer can be found in Malaysia.
Quite a pity, I would seriously like one though.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Question uh, where in Jusco did you buy this? I cant seem to find any toys there except for the minuscule amounts full of non-Nerf toys near the arcade.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Toshihiro,

I got my sets from Toys R Us at Jusco JB, but note that it was back in 2009. They seem to be completely sold out since then.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I asked Hasbro about this, they say it's discontinued. That sucks soo bad. It looks so good. I even made my own Red Dot sight for mein Nerf guns, well, two, after I lost the first one. And besides some battery contact issues, it works damn nicely.

    ReplyDelete
  70. cyberfireblaze,

You could shop around and check... though i've personally not seen it anymore in stores since mid-2010 when i went for shopping trips in JB and KL.

    ReplyDelete
  71. how well do you think this works?

    ReplyDelete
  72. John Doe,

Well, it works as described in my review... just line the red dot and reticle up with the target and thats your aiming point.

    ReplyDelete
  73. yes,but what i meant was how well the scope itself "pinpoints," so to speak.

    ReplyDelete
  74. John Doe,

It works as described as an aiming point, so how accurate it is just depends on how good your own aiming is and how well you are able to adjust to where the shots land. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Is it out now??I also surfed through the internet and there are a few packages like this but are tactical light like the one on Recon and there is another scope that I think belongs to the longshot. I am looking forward to buying these accesories so can you inform me when it is out and tell me where to buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  76. afiq,

Note that the review was done back in 2009.

It seems they are no more available in stores anymore, very rare nowadays.

    2. moogaffy,

Yup... that previous reply was posted before the special Pinpoint Sight "free gift with purchase" promo at local dept stores in March 2012:

      http://sgnerf.blogspot.com/2012/03/nerf-n-strike-rayven-cs-18-nerf-vortex.html

Seems the free sets in that promo are all already redeemed too.

    1. supersonic1997,

Its a fixed aiming point, basically an alternative to aiming down the tactical rail.

How accurate it is still depends on your blaster and foam darts... and your own accuracy. :)

  78. Hey can I buy this at toys r us (UK)? Thanks.
