Nerf Stampede ECS-50 "Dual Drum Mag" - Production or Concept?

Interesting photo found hosted at Hasbro.com...

Production or Concept? :)

--

My theory of how it "might" work:

From the layout of the foam darts as seen through the drum mag's clear panel in the photo, my theory on how it could work is more like a horizontal "S-shaped" ammo feed flow (therefore it'll work quite differently from a Beta C-Mag).

Just imagine all the foam darts lined up in a big continuous horizontal S-shape with only one dart advancement spacer starting from the right-side drum, and both drum springs turning in opposite directions. The foam darts will be "handed over" from the right-side drum to the left-side drum via the rotating drum dart holders and rotated up to the clip feed.

Its just my own theory though... i've not spotted any confirmed info on how it actually works yet.

28th Dec 2010 - Update!

Official sources have confirmed that it was only a concept that was never produced.

Still... i guess its an idea that would have been quite interesting to see in operation. :)

5th April 2011 - Update!

Once again, official sources have confirmed that it was still only a concept with no plans for production.

The box on display at the 2011 Australian Toy Fair Nerf booth was just meant to show retailers how the bonus pack looks like, not meant to show the Stampede ECS-50 concept.

Nerf Barricade RV-10 - Review!

Go semi-auto with the Nerf Barricade RV-10!

This pistol-sized blaster uses a flywheel powered system to launch foam darts in semi-auto. It features 2 spinning flywheels positioned in a vertical layout with a 10-dart revolving barrel.

The Barricade requires 3 x AA batteries (sold separately) to operate. Simply engage the On/Off switch and the flywheels start spinning.

Every trigger pull fires one shot in a semi-auto sequence, a "dart pusher" behind the barrel pushes a foam dart in between the 2 spinning flywheels, then the flywheels will catch the tip of the foam dart and "throw" it out of the barrel. It operates on a similar principle to a tennis ball launcher.

Unlike the Maverick, the Barricade's barrel does not flip out for dart loading, it is reloaded by manually rotating the barrels and loading in the foam darts individually.

The Barricade has a top tactical rail and shoulder stock attachment point which are compatible with most N-Strike blaster accessories.

It is packaged with 10 x Sonic Darts. Note that Streamline darts don't work as well in the Barricade as their tips are too narrow to allow for a proper launch grip between the 2 flywheels.

Average stock range is around 25-30ft.

Available at Toys R Us and most major dept stores in Singapore. Retail Price: SGD$34.90.

Nerf Alpha Trooper - Review!

Check out the Nerf Alpha Trooper CS-18!

The Alpha Trooper is a magazine-fed blaster with a spring powered reverse plunger system. It uses a pump action priming mechanism via a front shotgun style grip. Similar to the Nerf Raider.

It comes with an 18-dart drum magazine, this is a smaller version of the Raider 35-dart drum magazine and it provides good ammo capacity in a more compact form factor. This 18-dart drum magazine is also compatible with the other N-Strike clip system based blasters too.

This blaster also has the "Slam Fire" mode capability. Hold down the trigger, then pump the front grip repeatedly to fire a constant stream of foam darts, the rate-of-fire (RoF) will depend on how fast you pump the front grip.

The Alpha Trooper is packaged with 18 x streamline darts. Its average firing range is approx. 30ft.

Available at Toys R Us and most major dept stores in Singapore. Retail Price: SGD$49.90.

Nerf Stampede ECS - Review!

Clear the way for the Nerf Stampede ECS!

The Nerf Stampede ECS is a fully motorized spring-powered direct plunger blaster. The blaster requires 6 x D Batteries to power its motor.

Its firing system is fully motorized, there is no manual priming mechanism (without any batteries, it cannot fire). The bolt will complete a full firing cycle everytime before coming to a stop in the breech open position, therefore clips can be loaded and unloaded anytime.

The Stampede can fire in full auto or in bursts, depending on the duration of trigger pulls. Firing single shots at a time can also be done by simply pulling the trigger briefly and letting go, the firing mechanism will fire a shot, return back to the breech open position and stop. Its all in the timing of the trigger pulls.

Any jams that occur can be cleared via the sliding access hatch positioned just above the bolt.

The Stampede has 6 tactical rails which are compatible with most N-Strike blaster accessories. It is compatible with the new 18-dart clips, as well as the 6-dart clips and 35-dart drum magazines.

The complete boxed package comes with 3 x 18-dart clips, 1 x 6-dart clip and 60 streamline darts.

The blaster is equipped with a tactical rail mounted Pop-Out Bipod which can be used as a conventional vertical foregrip, or with the press of a button, deploy 2 hidden legs to convert itself into a bipod for support on surfaces.

It also comes packaged with a tactical rail mounted Blast Shield, this shield can be mounted and dismounted easily with a pinch-lock system.

The Stampede's stock rate-of-fire (RoF) is around 180 rounds-per-minute (RPM). Average stock range is around 25-30ft.

Available at Toys R Us and most major dept stores in Singapore. Retail Price: SGD$109.90.
