Nerf N-Strike Jolt (Blue Version) - Review!

Check out the Nerf Jolt... in Blue!

The Blue Nerf Jolt operates the same as the Orange Nerf Jolt version, the main difference is its new blue colored casing with "Elite" style stripe detailing and a new larger orange muzzle section.

The new color scheme looks quite good on the Jolt. :)

Average tested stock range is around 30-35ft with Elite foam darts... similar to the Orange Jolt with the same ammo too.

Well, i've never encountered any problems buying Nerf blasters from overseas and bringing them back in check-in luggage, they are just toys anyways (no issue with customs)... where did you ever hear that it was not allowed? :)

      Delete
    2. 2 of my friends tried bringing back for me from aussie and there were stopped. weird. i thought it's not allowed.

    3. There are very strict gun laws in Australia that unfortunately apply to Nerf guns as well. In their minds; if it resembles a gun, it IS a gun.

    4. Hi im an aussie, and yes we have very strict gun laws that also apply to toy blasters, we can ship blasters but we cannot carry them with us in either carry on luggage or check in luggage. Our government is just a pain...

  5. Very interesting. Does this mean that there is going to be an elite jolt also? Or couldn't HASBRO upgrade the jolt to elite distances and had to make a regular jolt with elite color scheme?

    Everybody wants to know!

Also, how many times did you replace your modded rayven motors, SG Nerf? sorry for asking, but i want to do the same thing to my rayven!

Thank you for answering all my questions and for having such an AAAWWWEEESSSOOOMMMEEE chanel

    1. Jolter666,

So far, i've not needed to replace any of the motors on my modded Rayvens yet, they are still working well. I guess how long the motors last just depends on your usage... and perhaps luck. :)

    2. I guess the question you have to ask is as to HOW they would upgrade it to Elite ranges. The Recon and Raider were relatively weakly engineered, reverse-plunger blasters with pretty soft springs. The Jolt's already direct plunger with a surprisingly stiff spring... Drac tried removing the air restrictor and it did virtually nothing. In all, the Jolt is just about the most air-efficient blaster that Nerf has ever created - more range only seems possible through increased air volume. Which means a larger plunger tube. Which means the Triad, I assume.

      Delete
    3. I can't wait for the Triad. Since it's almost an essencial thing to your arsenal.

I am so addicted to Jolt. My best game was made only using it. It was an amazing feeling. You don't imagine the advantage of having jolt on tight hallways. And the biggest problem was always to reload. Good for me that my friends were stupid enough to not to attack while i was reloading... They were actually very pooped because i surprised them with jolt.

And yes Bluefire, from what i've seen the Triad is a little bit bigger than jolt... wich worries me a little because it may not fit my pocket anymore! :D

Just one more thing SG Nerf, how much do you use your Rayven? (I am so annoying) Sorry for bothering you again...

Anyways thank you both for helping!

      Delete
    4. Jolter666,

Well, i actually have a few modded Rayvens being shared amongst colleagues at the office... and they have been probably used in 25-30+ Nerf games over the past year, many of the units have gone through quite a beating though, but they still work well. :)

    5. About modding a jolt, i have removed the air restrictor and stretched the spring to the point where i need a second person to help me get the plunger rod back together, and im getting ranges of around 50ft with it with a half sized streamline, with a bit of tape around it to give a better seal, and 40ft with stock darts which is a significant increase in power.

  6. Heh, any chance you would sell one? :P

Sorry, i've currently no plans to sell them. :)

  7. Also... What ranges is it getting?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. iModify,,

As mentioned in my review, they get around 30-35ft flat ranges with Elite foam darts, pretty much the similar to the Orange Jolts with the same ammo too.

      Delete
  8. Are they worth getting if you have a normal jolt and don't care about the color change?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. harpuia,

Well, performance-wise there isn't any significant difference over the orange version, its just a new color scheme and some small changes in the exterior design.

I guess most people would get the Blue Jolt mainly for the new "Elite" style blue color scheme. :)

    Witch is better?
    The Stampede or the Rampage?
Do you have any email for the viewers ask you questions?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous,

If you are only using the blaster in stock condition, then Rampage is a better choice due to its longer stock ranges. Only thing is its a manual priming blaster.

But if you are planning to mod the blaster, then the Stampede is better because it can achieve much further modded ranges (due to its larger direct plunger air volume) and it can fire in full-auto.

As for email, i get tons of emails a day asking the same old questions (most are irrelevant and are stuff that can be researched easily on google), so i'm not too keen on more people emailing me constantly repeated questions.

What you can do is read up on existing information as much as possible... and if you still need to ask, just post your questions on the various Nerf forums or Nerf Facebook groups so that others can pitch in and provide advice.

  24. Hi SG! Sorry, this is rather off topic. I have a rampage that i took apart the other day. but when i put it back together i was able to cock and shoot the gun once but then the cock handle wouldn't slide back any more! Any ideas of how to fix it? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous,

It could be due to one of the many parts that could be off-alignment when you put it back together. You will have to open it again, then check and make sure the parts are aligned and positioned properly before you close the casing.

If you still cannot solve it after repeated tries, then you can try removing the bolt lock system within the left side of the casing, that will solve the issue, but note that the bolt will then be permanently unlocked. You can see how its done in this photo:

  25. Thanks so much SG for your help and time! I was finally able to fix it. Turns out that the problem was that i had removed the mag well. Which activated a lock that prevented the gun from cocking. Thanks for having such a cool blog!

  26. Side tracking abit, i did an AR mod on my longstrike CS-6 and now it's freakin loud, any ideas to how i can crank that noise level down?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous,

Thats the sound of the back of the plunger tube slamming against the bolt without any cushion or resistance... its expected.

Firstly, if you've not done so... you should install suitable plunger padding to the base of the plunger tube, it doesn't decrease the sound much, but at least it helps to absorb some of the impact and help prolong the lifespan of that part. Don't dry fire it either (ie. firing without a foam dart loaded).

One of the other ways modders use to reduce the sound further is to stuff foam in the empty spaces within the casing, it can help to dampen the sound too.

  27. thx sg nerf for the help, i'll work on that, and when you say foam, what kind of foam are we talking about? like Styrofoam?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous,

Most modders just cut foam backer rod (FBR) to shape to fit in the spaces... you can also try using the foam material from spare Nerf foam darts too.

Some also use acoustic insulation foam too, those can be sourced from music shops or specialized hardware stores.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous,

Tested ranges are based on firing them parallel-to-ground, as in blaster pointing straight ahead (which is the common benchmark method).. not angled pointing upwards or fired at higher trajectory, if users do that most stock blasters can also achieve 60-70ft ranges too.

I don't have those blasters anymore as i've since traded them all away, so can't do any side-by-side photos of them.

But for reference, they are all basically the same form factor and shape, just with different color schemes and some minor differences in exterior casing design.
