Nerf Dart Tag Capture The Flag - Review!

Want to play Nerf Dart Tag game scenarios?

Check out the new Nerf Dart Tag Capture The Flag Set!

The set consists of: 2 Stormfire blasters (with 3 tagger darts each), 1 Electronic Flag, 2 scoring vests and 2 vision gear.

The new Stormfire blasters are manual single shot blasters which are primed by pulling back the charging handle at the back of the blaster. Each blaster has 4 additional storage holders for foam darts. Average range for this blaster is around 25-30 ft.

This is also the debut of green Nerf foam darts! :)

The new scoring vests sport a new design and color scheme. In addition, the new vision gears now have a rubberized plastic frame.

The new Electronic Flag utilities built-in timers, sound effects and motion sensors to offer 2 modes of dart tag game play: Capture The Flag & Seek And Disarm.

In Capture The Flag mode, the electronic flag is armed and left at an objective. There is no time limit. When a player picks up the flag, it will detect the motion and sound a continuous alarm, marking the location of the player. The flag carrying player will have to run back to the designated base to score flag capture points.

In Seek And Disarm mode, the electronic flag is armed and left at an objective (preferably hidden). Players split into 2 teams (Attackers & Defenders) and set a time limit of 5 or 15 minutes (5 minutes recommended for smaller game areas). Attacking players have to find the flag and press the button on top to "disarm" the flag, thereby scoring a win for the attacking team.

If picked up, the flag will sound a continuous alarm (signalling a loss for the attacking team). If it isn't disarmed or picked up for a while, the flag will sound out over the last few minutes and a countdown sequence will start on the 30 seconds approaching the time limit. An alarm will sound when time is up (signalling a win for the defending team)!

  1. Ha! Awesome dude! I saw these at the NDTL stop in Chicago, and I love the flags. A "disarm" mode is a nice addition. I definitely will need 2, for sure.

  2. Yeah, i might get another set for organised nerf games too.

Btw, i've also been following your excellent coverage on the 2009 Dew Tour too. Great work! :)

  5. At least SOMEONE bothered to read the Dew Tour thread, hahaha.

There was a question on NH, and I wanted to confirm. Are the new DT vests just one-sided? They don't have a back panel, if I am seeing this correctly?

  6. Yeah, quite surprised how some chaps could actually miss your Dew Tour thread, it should be required reading for any nerf enthusiast!

Anyways... yes, the new Dart Tag vests are single sided (same as the previous versions). :)

  7. i found out that most dart tag guns are single shot.(except for hyperfire and furyfire) i tested my stormfire and my furyfire, and i found out that my stormfire shot further. can anyone tell me why?

  8. Don't forget the Magstrike... its the full-auto blaster that also in the Dart Tag model range too. :)

For your observation that the Stormfire seems to fire further than the Furyfire, its because the Stormfire's spring air plunger and barrel are all in one connected unit, creating an ideal air seal.

In the Furyfire (like the Maverick or Hyperfire), there is a gap between the rotating barrels and the spring air plunger, therefore air will naturally escape and pressure would be lost when firing, thus resulting in a shorter firing range.

  9. Is the seek and disarm game mode only 3 minutes long?

  10. Furyrun81,

    As mentioned in my review:
