The Longstrike is a bolt-action single-shot blaster with a clip-fed ammo system. It uses a spring powered reverse-plunger mechanism (similar to the Nerf Recon and Raider).
As part of the N-Strike range, its components and parts are interchangeable with compatible N-Strike blasters (ie. Longshot, Recon, Raider or Deploy) and it can also use most N-Strike tactical rail accessories too.
Its shoulder stock can hold another 2 extra clips (additional clips sold separately). Also included is a flip-up sight which can be mounted on its tactical rail.
The package comes with 1 x 6-dart clip, along with 6 streamline darts. Average firing range is around 25-30ft.
Special Note: For modders keen on finding out how the Longstrike internals look like, check out the Nerf Longstrike - Internals Guide!

Delete$30
DeleteWow, can you open it up for us?
ReplyDeletekah yeow,
ReplyDeleteIts retail price is SGD$79.90 in Singapore stores.
12Rooster,
ReplyDeleteI've posted up a Longstrike internals guide at my Mod Works blog.
Check it out here: http://modworks.blogspot.com/2010/01/nerf-longstrike-internals-guide.html
:)
Awesome i'm going to buy it btw is it available in canada yet
ReplyDeleteguys can u tell what shops in sg sell them? thanx
ReplyDeletebuy it on amazon.com
DeleteGreat review! I also enjoyed your internal shots, as I didn't open mine afraid of breaking my precious new toy! lol
ReplyDeletejust curious, once you put on the butt stock is it removable or permanent?
ReplyDeleteSpike,
ReplyDeleteLongstrikes have been spotted at Takashimaya, Isetan and the various Toys R Us outlets in Singapore. You can check out those places. I guess most of the other dept stores should also be stocking it soon too.
David,
ReplyDeleteOnce the shoulder stock is attached to the main blaster unit, it will not be detachable.
You'll have to disassemble the casing in order to detach the shoulder stock. :)
When Opening the box for the first time, Do I have to open it up to put it in?
DeleteJoseph,
DeleteFor the shoulder stock, you can just attach it directly into the blaster. No need to open up the blaster.
But as mentioned, once the shoulder stock is attached, it cannot be removed (unless you open up the casing).
Can you please compare the ranges of this gun to some baseline, like the Raider or Longshot?
ReplyDeletecool, finally its here. Hope Malaysia will get it soon. Whats the firing range ?
ReplyDelete35 ft
Deleteholy !!!! annoyin' orange!!!
DeleteOn the topic of clips, you should check out the nerf bandolier, it holds six clips and twenty-one darts! around 15 usd!!!
ReplyDeleteCan it use the drum mag from the raider?
ReplyDeletePatrick,
ReplyDeleteIn stock version, the Longstrike, Raider and Longshot achieve similiar box advertised ranges, around 25-30ft (maybe 35ft if fired at a higher angle).
Of course, modded ranges are a whole different set of measurements. :)
timmyoes,
ReplyDeleteYes, the Raider's drum magazine can be used on the Longstrike. :)
Will this come to the Philippines? Singapore is just close to the Philippines, do you think it will be released here? when?
ReplyDeletehow many tactical rails does the longstrike have?
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so lucky. We don't have this in the US yet. I'm going to get this with the Nerf bandolier. I have seen that in my Walmart and it looks cool.
ReplyDeletethis launcher is very similar to AWP
ReplyDeleteif you find a link to buy the longstrike online somewhere, can you post it?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! That is my next nerf gun then.
ReplyDeleteJeffrey,
ReplyDeleteThe Longstrike has 4 seperate tactical rails:
1 x Front Barrel Top
1 x Front Barrel Bottom
1 x Main Blaster Top Front
1 x Main Blaster Top Rear
Check out the Longstrike photos for more detail.
Hi I am from the Philippines. I will be going to Singapore on January 29. I plan to buy 3 Longstrikes, 2 Longshots, and 1 Deploy (If it is already available.) I know already where to buy the Nerf Longstrikes. Could you give the exact store to buy The Nerf Longshots. Also which color do they sell the longshots in?
ReplyDeleteTnx Sg Nerf :)
hey do you have any idea if it will come out in yellow. also do you know the date it will be released in oz
ReplyDeleteKarl,
ReplyDeleteYou can find Nerf Longshots and Longstrikes at most of the major dept stores, I'd recommend to just check out all the stores along Orchard Road (Takashimaya, Metro Paragon, Toys R Us Paragon, OG Orchard etc).
Currently, the Longshots avaliable here are the latest Yellow versions.
At this moment, the Deploy is not avaliable locally yet, but do keep a lookout on this blog for updates. :)
Thanks so much Sg Nerf. By the way do you happen to know if they have the Element EX-6 Action Kit, the one with the scope and laser and where to buy it? Also, since I will be going there, I will be needing a box to put all of the Nerfs I will buy. I will start preparing a special kind of box for transport back to the Philippines. I need to compare the box of the Nerf Longshot and Longstrike. Could you tell me which box is wider, which box is taller, and which box is thicker.
ReplyDeleteThanks Again so much Sg Nerf :)
Dude, you must be LOADED to afford all of those guns you show off on youtube!
ReplyDeleteI want the CS-35 raider sooooo bad!!! :(
Karl,
ReplyDeleteThe Element EX-6 Action Kit was spotted at the local Toys R Us stores recently, but you'll have to check out the various outlets to see if they still have stock avaliable.
The Longstrike's box has around the same dimensions as a yellow Longshot's box. :)
do you know when will the magestrike will come to singapore
ReplyDeleteHey, when do you think that the longstrike is going to be released in America? The Deploy?
ReplyDeletehow much does the rapid fire 20 cost in malaysia?
ReplyDeleteNat,
ReplyDeleteI've not spotted any Magstrikes in stores lately, no idea when they'll be avaliable locally too.
Toys R Us stores in M'sia used to stock RF20s up until early 2009, but it seems no more have been spotted on shelves lately. When it was in stock there, the retail price was RM$99.90.
Anyways, you should check out the NerfSG forum trading section, there are usually members there buying and selling those blasters too. :)
BlakeNA1996,
ReplyDeleteSeems that the Longstrike has already started appearing on store shelves in the States, check out the NerfHaven forum for threads on it.
No idea about the Deploy, I guess it should be quite soon too. :)
when do you think the shipment of rpd20 will come out? i really wan to know as i maybe going to jb to get one.
ReplyDeletemust i sign up a acount in nerfsg to buy or trade with other people there?
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome!
ReplyDeleteDo you know how far it shoot's?
I would like to know because later I might like one.
Thanks.
Nerf Commander Blade-
where can u find the nerf pin point sight in singapore?
ReplyDeletethnx for all the help SG NERF
Commander Blade,
ReplyDeleteWell, the Longstrike's box states that its range is "up to" 35 ft, similiar to the Longshot.
I've test fired a few stock sets and its around that range.
Of course, modded ranges are a whole different set of measurements. :)
Nat,
ReplyDeleteNo idea on when Rapidfire 20s would be avaliable in Singapore, have to just keep a lookout. Not sure if they are even still avaliable in Malaysia too, but you are welcomed to check.
No Pinpoint Sights spotted in Singapore yet, so far its only avaliable in Malaysia stores.
Yes, you have to create a NerfSG forum account and login to access the trading section, then you can communicate with the local buyers and sellers there.
which is better ,the nerf longstrike, longshot or raider 35 and the longstrike has no scope but instead a sight , and a sniper should obviously have a scope right.. but is the longshot's scope accurate? and also how big is the box?
ReplyDeletewhich one is better in your opinion, the longstrike, longshot or the raider 35 , the 1 with the drum magazine, the raider 35 is a pumpaction right? and i think that sucks if u have so many bullets, you just keep pumping it. it say that it has 2 types of firing modes, can you elaborate. also, the sight for the longstrike, is it good? because a sniper is like supposed to have a scope right? and then is the scope for the longshot accurate? so is the sight for the longstrike. the flip up sight is it like the recon's?
ReplyDeleteIf you are planning to keep the blaster in original stock condition, then all of them are equally okay to get 'cos the stock performance are around the same, so it just depends on which design and function you like better.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to modify the blaster for more range, then the Longshot will be the best choice as it has a larger direct spring plunger system (which offers much further range after modding), compared to the Longstrike, Raider and Recon's smaller reverse plunger system.
For an overview of the Raider and its 2 firing modes, look at the Raider review:
http://sgnerf.blogspot.com/2009/09/nerf-raider-cs-35-review.html
The Longstrike's flip sight works similiarly to the Recon's flip sight, but has a different design.
The scope on the Longshot is not a real scope, its just a hollow plastic tube, no magnification at all.
which is the most accurate gun because the recon i had , the laser just sucks. and the scope . kinda too. the sight breaks into 2 5 minutes after using it but it can be put back together with some force. the accuracy of which gun is the best? in terms of cordination with the scope/sight.
ReplyDeleteFor stock blasters, i've not found a noticable difference in accuracy between them as their range are limited anyways. The flip sights help to gauge aiming points somewhat but I guess accuracy largely depends on the user. :)
ReplyDeleteand also, if you were me and had only enough money to buy 1 gun, which would you buy, the longshot or raider
ReplyDeleteFor nerf games, the choice between a Longshot or Raider will depend on the game scenario and terrain.
ReplyDeleteIn outdoor open field games, modded Longshots will out-range Raiders, so Longshots would be the blaster of choice.
In close quarter indoor games, Raiders have higher RoF than Longshots, so Raiders would tend to be the blaster of choice.
Both blasters have their strong points, so it all depends on your style of gameplay.
Personally, my current gamestyle is more long range, so i'd usually use modded Longshots. :)
is longstrike already in indonesia? because i'm gonna buy it
ReplyDeletedo you know if the longstrike will come to the united kingdom if it does when will it come.
ReplyDeleteNo idea of Longstrike stock avaliability in Indonesia or UK... guess you guys just need to keep a lookout on store shelves around your area for them. :)
ReplyDeleteWhich would you recommend for an indoor battle- the longshot or longstrike if they are not modded?
ReplyDeleteIf in original stock condition and not modded, then both have the same performance anyways so it'll just depend on which design you like better.
ReplyDeleteThough the Longshot does come with a functional front blaster unit that can fire too, so in effect you get 2 blasters in 1 package. :)
I don't know if it's outdated already, but let me clear up a few things about "sights" and "scopes" for Ernest.
ReplyDeletefor the longshot, the scope sucks. UNLESS you follow this: aim at your target. make sure the bottom horizontal line is touching the iron sight on the longshot front gun, and fire. if you use the center dot, you will shoot low. for the recon: you have to estimate how far your target is, adjust the sight's pinhole, align the pinhole with the recon front barrel's iron sight, and fire. the recon's sight is better than the scope on a longshot. also, for the longstrike, i expect the flip up sight to be better than a recon sight due to the fact that you do not need a barrel extension to use it.
Which 5 nerf guns would you recommend for an indoor nerf battle? And would you say that the nerf Magstrike or unity power system are more worth the money?
ReplyDeleteFor indoor Nerf games, most players would usually prefer high RoF blasters with high ammo capacity, so the popular choices could be blasters like the Magstrike AS-10, Rapid Fire AS-20 or Raider CS-35.
ReplyDeleteMagstrike vs Unity Power System? Well, both feature different firing systems: The Magstrike is a full-auto high RoF blaster while the Unity Power System is a foam missile launcher bundled with a semi-auto blaster and single-shot blaster.
So the choice will just depend on your gameplay style.
hi sg nerf like i said on the deploy review do you know if the longstrike will come to the uk. thanks
ReplyDeleteSo far i've not spotted any info on Longstrike avaliability in the UK yet... i guess you could check with the staff at major dept stores around you area, they might have a better idea when the Longstrike could be avaliable there.
ReplyDeleteAny idea when it'll be out in the US?
ReplyDeleteBakesta,
ReplyDeleteLongstrikes have already been spotted on store shelves in the states. Check the NerfHaven forum for info on it.
can you post a picture of the longstrike with the recon barrel on it plz thanks
ReplyDeleteis the range better than a longshot?
ReplyDeleteJ,
ReplyDeleteIn stock version, the Longstrike and Longshot achieve similiar ranges.
This is now avalible in the USA in all toys r us stores. Ive confirmed this by checking all toys r us stores in the North carolina area. I have it and it is pwnage.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of getting a Nerf Longshot or Longstrike... But I can't decide, because I heard that the longshot fires faster because more air gets through the mechenism.. so I was hopeing you guys could help me decide..
ReplyDeleteIf you are planning to keep the blasters in original stock condition, then there isn't much difference in stock performance between the Longshot and Longstrike anyways, so it just depends on which design you like better.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to modify the blasters for more range, then the Longshot will be the best choice as it has a larger direct spring plunger system (which offers much further range after modding), compared to the Longstrike's smaller reverse plunger system.
Oh i 4got to ask.. which one is lighter longshot/longstrike?
ReplyDeleteI like how the longshot has the bipod and pistol/side arm, but does it help? If i get the longstrike i wanna find a good scope that matches it... But i've seen a few pics and the longshot scope isn't the same color as the longstrike itself... And i don't think i'll be modding it, if i do i might break it :P.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry about all the questions, but one more thing... Do you know which one is more accurate?
ReplyDeleteforkandtheroad,
ReplyDeleteYup, getting a Longshot does have the benefit of getting 2 blasters in one package, the main blaster and front "pistol" blaster.
The Longshot front blaster is a basic single-shot manual reload pump-action blaster. Its main feature is being able to be attached to the front of the Longshot main blaster.
The Longshot's in-built bipod is quite convenient and can prop it up steadily.
In terms of weight, i guess the Longstrike seems to be slightly lighter than the Longshot. :)
forkandtheroad,
ReplyDeleteIf the blasters are in original stock condition, the stock range and dart velocity is so low that you'd be limited to shooting at close range and just lobbing slow shots at targets anyways. So there isn't much distinction in terms of accuracy.
But once modded with much longer range and faster dart velocity, along with the usage of properly calibrated weight-balanced foam darts, then blaster accuracy will start to become very noticeable. When it comes to that stage, the Longshot would be the choice due to its higher modding potential. :)
One more thing... sorry again, i might be getting a little agitating but please bear with me so When your prone how do you reload for the longshot? Because if im not mistaken, it balances on the clip while using the bipod, and how do you access the second clip on the other side on the longstrike?
ReplyDeleteIs it available in Canada? And can you still get the blue longshot(in Canada)? Last thing, where do you get red longshot (in Canada)?
ReplyDeleteforkandtheroad,
ReplyDeleteReloading clips in the Longshot when in prone position? Just angle the Longshot sideways and reload it.
Accessing the clip on the other side of the Longstrike shoulder stock? Just use the hand on that side to remove it.
As for stock avaliability in Canada, i have no idea... i'm in Singapore.
Is there a blue scope that matches the longstrike? If not how do you paint/ take apart a scope to paint it? Also can you still buy a blue nerf strike fire?
ReplyDeleteforkandtheroad,
ReplyDeleteWell, the Blue Longshot's scope is blue, so you could use that.
If you want to re-colour the scope, just unscrew the scope casing and spray paint the parts to the colour you want.
Blue Nerf Strike Fires? Those are from the older Strike Fire sets, i guess you just have to scout out the dept stores or Nerf forums to find them.
I already tried unscrewing it... but the two sides for the lenses are cliped onto the piece of plastic making it impossible to open a spray paint.
ReplyDeleteforkandtheroad,
ReplyDeleteThen just use a flat-head screwdriver to carefully pry it open, use your ingenuity... its all part of the modding and customisation process. :)
Recently got a 'Strike, here's a commentary:
ReplyDeleteI put about 50 rounds through the Longstrike. With the snout it's terrible. it's not only the speed reduction the dart suffers from, but the added length makes it hard to adjust the aim so it's less accurate.
In shotgun mode, it's very nice. Bolt group's action is slick and the way you have to grip the gun makes it very stable, so at 30' you can plant 6 rounds within 1' circle in rapid fire (cranking the bolt as fast as you can go).
But the best part is that stock, grip and bolt handle all combine to make this excellent at indirect fire. It's a mortar/ rifle grenade.
With 6 rounds, you can arc/ walk fire into a zone. Light darts make it not hot but good enough with little breeze. If you have the '35er, with the drum mag, the rate you can pump out indirect fire and the accuracy should make it very potent.
Hmm, put another 50 or so rounds through the 'strike. Let me revise the numbers.
ReplyDeleteAt 15 feet (sorry folks, really bad estimate earlier, I measured properly this time), there is very little droop and the accuracy is very good. 1' circle is doable at rapid fire.
At 18 to 21 feet, the droop is obvious, but you can still direct fire and again, accuracy can be very good.
Beyond 21 feet though, the droop is too much, so you should switched to indirect.
Using it as a "knee mortar", I can plant all 6 darts into a reasonable target zone 40' downrange at rapid fire. Nothing as tight a grouping as direct fire, but it's sufficiently tight that a shower of 6 should nail somebody. I couldn't go further than that as I ran out of both range and head room (arcing fire started slamming into the ceiling), but I suspect it can reach out a little further with more room.
All this with an unmodded 'Strike, indoors. Wind would make indirect very iffy, as even light air con can flutter the darts.
I modded my Longtrikeand it's amazing! I haven't measured, but I'd say it can shoot about 70 feet. I made an iron sight for it, and it's so accurate that it can hit a door knob at 30 feet! Thats about a 10cm by 10 cm square. 4in by 4in square for americans. Thats crazy!
ReplyDeletei have a longstrike but how do you remove the shoulder stock? i lost the instructions.
ReplyDeleteThe Longstrike shoulder stock is not removable once its attached.
ReplyDeleteYou will have to open up the casing in order to detach the shoulder stock.
is the nerf raiders clip able to be used in the longstrike becuae i have the raider and i'm buying the longstrike?
ReplyDeleteHi, ive never been on this sight before, but it seems helpful, so is the new longstrike worth the money for me.
ReplyDeleteMy performance needs: a good, long range gun that does not need high ammo capacity (i already have the raider, and the drum is not very useful).
Aaron,
ReplyDeleteYes, the Raider's 35-dart drum magazine is compatible with the Longstrike.
Jess,
ReplyDeleteThe Recon, Raider, Deploy and Longstrike all share the same internal reverse plunger mechanisms, so their firing performance are all around the same.
So your choice would just depend on whether you like the design of the Longstrike.
Imho, think of the Longstrike as basically a Recon in a different casing design. :)
oh, one more thing, i have heard rumers of a nerf spartan, what do you know about this?
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, I HATE the STUPID recon.
sorry if im bugging you, but ive got [at least] one more question:
ReplyDelete[CONTENT DELETED] hah hah, JK, now for the real question:
I am having a giant outdoor nerf war on about an acre of land that has lots of trees, and i want to know which gun you think is good for that kind of thing, the raider, the recon, the reactor, or the maverick.
Jess,
ReplyDeleteSo far, the Nerf Spartan is still a concept blaster from the Nerf Wii game, its not announced or confirmed to be an actual product at this point in time.
Btw, you're having a Nerf game at a large outdoor area? Thats cool!
Well, amongst the 4 blasters you mentioned, since their ranges are more or less similiar, i'd say the Raider is perhaps the most useful 'cos it has the 35-dart drum magazine and slam-fire mode (features which the other 3 blasters don't have). :)
thats what i figured, and yes, thats where i live, an acre large, hilly, place with bushes and trees, great place.
ReplyDeleteis the "big bad titan" still available, and if it is, how much is it, and is it worth it.
ReplyDeleteJess,
ReplyDeleteSo far to my knowledge, the Big Bad Bow is still a current model and avaliable in stores.
Check out my Big Bad Bow review:
http://sgnerf.blogspot.com/2009/04/nerf-big-bad-bow-review.html
eh, i said "big bad TITAN" KK?
ReplyDeleteOh... haha yeah, i mis-read your comment, my mistake. :)
ReplyDeleteYup, the Big Bad Titan is also still a current model too, and avaliable in stores.
Check out my Big Bad Titan review for more info on it:
http://sgnerf.blogspot.com/2009/03/nerf-titan-as-v1-review.html
Can you post photos of the Longstrike with the Drum Magazine and some other attachment/variations?
ReplyDeleteSteveTehPirate,
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be posting any more photos of clip or accessory examples in this review.
But you can check out a review at another blog which shows the Longstrike with the drum magazine:
http://nerfornothing.blogspot.com/2010/01/nerf-longstrike-cs-6.html
hi, i am basically making my new nerf arsenal; it consists of two nerf guns, one defense, one offense.
ReplyDeleteI already have offense (raider) what is your defense suggestion, longstrike???
Jess,
ReplyDeleteWell, for "defence" blasters, i'd suggest perhaps considering high rate-of-fire (RoF) blasters like the Magstrike or Rapid Fire 20.
High RoF blasters are very useful when opponents have advanced too near and players need to quickly fire a hail of darts to fend them off. :)
anyone know where I can still buy LONGSHOT CS-6?
ReplyDeleteWhat stronger the pull gun, longstrike or longshot?
ReplyDeleteJose Luis,
ReplyDeleteIf you are planning to keep the blasters in original stock condition, then there isn't much difference in stock performance between the Longshot and Longstrike anyways, so it just depends on which design you like better.
If you are going to modify the blasters for more range, then the Longshot will be the best choice as it has a larger direct spring plunger system (which offers much further range after modding), compared to the Longstrike's smaller reverse plunger system.
hi SG nerf I really want the longshot is it even out in the UK if its not when is it out, also I have looked everywhere to find it so if it is out where to i buy it from? Also i ve been hearing reviews abut the recon but i ordered it and is it really that bad because all ive been hearing are really bad reviews
ReplyDeletekyletopsu,
ReplyDeleteFor UK Nerf stock avaliability, perhaps you can check at the UK Nerf Blog:
http://www.uknerf.blogspot.com
As for the Recon, it all depends on what aspect of the blaster you're looking at.
In terms of modding... the Recon's smaller reverse plunger system limits its modding potential.
In terms of design and features... when in pistol mode, the Recon is currently the most compact clip-based blaster, and has a modular component system for different configurations.
So it all depends on what you are looking for in the Recon.
Both the longshot and longstrike are over three feet long.which one is longer? What makes the longstrike special from the the longshot?
ReplyDeleteThe Longstrike is abit longer, but only by a few cm.
ReplyDeleteI guess most people get the Longstrike just mainly for the design.
Note that although both blasters use the same charging handle priming design, the Longshot uses the larger direct plunger system while the Longstrike uses the smaller reverse plunger system.
In stock version, both have similiar firing ranges.
But after modifications, the Longshot will naturally achieve much further firing distance compared to the Longstrike.
does the longstrike have a pop up blocker plate like the recon?
ReplyDeleteweaponhazard,
ReplyDeleteYes, the Longstrike also has a pop-up blocker plate system.
Other than the shape and positioning of some parts, the internals of the Recon, Deploy, Raider and Longstrike are all pretty much the same.
what is better in stick version?
ReplyDeleteRaider or Longstrike
mahad,
ReplyDeleteBoth the Raider and Longstrike use the same reverse plunger system to propel the foam darts, so their firing performance is similiar.
In terms of actual functionality in Nerf games, i'd say the Raider offers much more features. It has a more ergonomic pump-action foregrip priming system, has the unique "slam-fire" mode for higher rate-of-fire (RoF) and comes packaged with a 35-dart drum magazine. Overall, much more effective in most Nerf games.
On the other hand, most people get the Longstrike simply because they just like the design. :)
On the box it seems to have a additional front sight, but I can't see it on your other pictures.
ReplyDeleteIs it really there or is it just a fault on the box?
joeri83,
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a small foresight tip that can be flipped up above the front barrel attachment. I just didn't flip it up in the photos. :)
So why are there 4 sights?
ReplyDeleteJohn,
ReplyDeleteYou mean why are there additional sights on the Longstrike? I guess its to give more aiming options for users.
can you mod this for us please!
ReplyDeleteSg Nerf,
ReplyDeleteWhat makes the Longstrike so special?(Rather than length.)
iigguuee,
ReplyDeleteI guess most people get the Longstrike mainly because of it's design... 'cos it's internals and performance is pretty much the same as a Recon.
my friend just bought a longstrike and i tried it. it doesn't even go up to 30 feet. sometimes it just gets stuck in the gun and it has to be tilted to remove the dart.
ReplyDeletebtw, how old are you?
Adil,
ReplyDeleteWell, stock blaster range can vary between 20-30ft and are not usually consistent, these are still toys.
If it tends to jam frequently, then something is either damaged internally or its a faulty unit.
Just exchange it for a new unit and see if you get a better one.
How old am i? I'm very old.
I have just bought a longstrike recently, and i was wondering how do i detach the tailstock?
ReplyDeletelimjingxiang.08,
ReplyDeleteOnce the Longstrike shoulder stock is attached, the only way to detach it again is to open up the casing and remove it.
hi.. i live in admiralty, where mall is nearest mall i can find this sweetz sniper. thx. =)
ReplyDeleteArbie,
ReplyDeleteJust go to any major dept store near your area, they should have stock of this blasters.
Do you see any points or grooves on the gun where an alternate priming grip (like your Longshot's shotgun-style grip mod) can be attached to? If not, are there any safe points to carve one?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking either along the top of the stock or some kind of vertical grip in front of the clip, but since I don't own one myself (yet), I can't be sure.
Thanks.
Andy,
ReplyDeleteYou could mod a shotgun grip to ride along the bottom tactical rail of the Longstrike front barrel attachment, then link that grip to the priming handles.
Sg Nerf,
ReplyDeleteIn terms of power and range, which is better? the recon or the longstrike?
wafi,
ReplyDeleteBoth the Longstrike and Recon have the same reverse plunger internals, and their stock firing performance is similiar (+/- a few feet).
So its basically up to you which design you like better.
Personally, i find that the Recon is easier to handle in Nerf games because it can be used as a clip-fed pistol unit (just the main blaster only without the front barrel or shoulder stock).
But if you just want something for display, then the Longstrike looks nicer.
Ok thanks
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm choosing a NERF Deploy or Longstrike... Do you have any advice on which one is better?
Thanks!
Anon E. Mouse,
ReplyDeleteWell, technically both have the same reverse plunger internals and similar stock firing ranges... so i guess its up to you to just decide which blaster design you like better. :)
Alright, thanks for your help. I might go with Deploy, but I'm still looking at the Longstrike, because my friend had a stock Longshot and they're basically the same range when you don't mod them, right? It just varies with model and the two clip storage looks kinda cool... I'm just concerned with the pricings. But thanks for your help, I can take it from here.
ReplyDeleteAnon E. Mouse,
ReplyDeleteYes, the Longstrike and Longshot have similar ranges when in stock condition due to the air restrictors in their bolts. It's only after modding that significant differences can be seen between those two blasters.
SG nerf, I have recon and I am wondering if it is worth replacing with a longstrike. What should I do?
ReplyDeleteDevon,
ReplyDeleteWell, the Recon and Longstrike share the same reverse plunger design, so there isn't much difference in firing performance (even after modding).
I guess the main reason why people get the Longstrike is because of it's exterior design. :)
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI would know what is the best gun out of these 3 after basic mod, which i hope somebody can teach me, or i could google it.
Basically, the 3 guns are
Longshot VS Recon VS LongStrike.
I would like to know which gun is better in accuracy and range. and as a sniper user :O
I Know longstrike is cool, if only it didnt have the reverse plunger system :(
Thanks alot.
Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteAmongst the 3 blasters that you are comparing, the Longshot will have the most power and range after modding. This is because the Longshot uses the direct plunger system with a plunger air volume 3-4 times larger than the other blasters.
The Recon and Longstrike are both reverse plunger blasters with small plunger air volumes, so they are naturally limited in their firing performance even after modding.
You can check out various performance comparisons from the Mod Guides at my Mod Works site:
Longshot Mod Guide (notice the design and size of the direct plunger):

Recon Mod Guide (same modding techniques apply for all reverse plunger blasters):

As for accuracy, it is determined by the foam darts that are used (not the blaster). Custom calibrated foam darts that are matched to the power of individual blasters will have very consistent accuracy.
Here are some tips on how foam darts can be custom calibrated for accuracy:

Hope that helps!
Ohhh, THANKS! :D any idea where in sg still got stock for longshot and the price of it? im running all over the island looking for them :(
ReplyDeleteKenneth,
ReplyDeleteLooks like Longshots are sold out locally. The alternative is to order from overseas stores (if they still have stock) or check at the NerfSG forum to find local enthusiasts who might have spare sets for sale.
well, do you have spare sets? :)
ReplyDeleteanyway you saw the Crimson Longshot? its dam cool!
Kenneth,
ReplyDeleteSorry, i've no spare sets at the moment. :)
The Nerf Crimson Strike Series? Yup, those were Walmart exclusive models, but no longer available anymore. Highly sought after by collectors nowadays... especially the Crimson Strike Longshots.
Hey SG Nerf,
ReplyDeleteMy Longstrike cant shoot at...
The dart didnt go in properly...
How is this happen??
Please help me...
:(
Sorry..
ReplyDeleteI write wrongly..
*My Longstrike cant shoot at all...
Nerf IsReallycool,
ReplyDeleteWell, i have zero idea on what's the cause since you only provide an obscure description of your blaster's problem.
So my answer will simply be... open it up, check the reason why and then solve it.
Hmm.... Thanks...
ReplyDeleteI actually cant open my Longstrike 'cause i've already attached the realoding part to my Longstrike..
:(
Longstrike or longshot? which is better?
ReplyDeletejaykoknight,
ReplyDeleteFor overall performance after modding, the Longshot is better because it uses a direct plunger system with much larger air volume, hence higher power potential.
On the otherhand, the Longstrike is popular mainly for it's "sniper" rifle design.
um... ok. i got a longstrike yesterday. will it out shoot my STOCK longshot that gets 50ft flat?
ReplyDeleteThanks, SG nerf
barrettm107cqbr,
ReplyDeleteWell, 50ft flat range for a stock Longshot is more due to unusual chance and luck... and maybe some odd measuring methods. :)
As far as what the text on the box art states: "Fires up to 35ft".
LOL :)
ReplyDeleteI did a firing test with my LSK. It gets 35 ft flat/ 10.7m... but with the barrel it only gets around 20-25ft. Why is there such a amount of range decrease with the barrel.
P.S I opened my Longshot. Guess what? It was miracle. I found TWO O-rings in the plunger, causing extreme ranges...:) Proably a manufacturing confusions or something. :)
P.P.S Soz for writing so much :)
barrettm107cqbr,
ReplyDeleteNerf front barrel attachments tend to decrease range because the foam darts start losing power once they are fired out of the stock breech bolt, then they end up bumping against the walls of the barrel attachment which slow them down.
Only with air-tight breech-to-barrel systems that ranges improve.
But isn't the LSK's barrel wider in barrel dimensions?
ReplyDeleteWhen I shoot my LS with that barrel, ranges seem to be farther than with the barrel from the LSFG.
:) Thanks for answering my questions, SG Nerf
barrettm107cqbr,
ReplyDeleteBy default, Nerf front barrel attachments will decrease range when attached to blasters.
In all my years of collecting and using Nerf blasters, i've never seen front barrel attachments increase range before.
Honestly, i find it difficult to answer your questions because your claims on your "stock" Longshot performance so far have been very odd and peculiar.
No I actually meant that the LSK barrel on an LS goes farther that the barrel extension for the LS. I think you mis-read me...
ReplyDeletei.e LSK Barrel on LS= 40ft
LSFG Barrel on LS = 35ft
No barrel= 45- 50ft
Question is, why does putting on a LSK barrel goes farther than the original LSFG barrel?
Thanks :)
barrettm107cqbr,
ReplyDeleteIn that case, then the most probable explanation is that in your Longshot with Longstrike front barrel attachment, the foam darts are not bumping as much on the wider Longstrike front barrel walls, so less friction and less slow down in foam dart speed.
Oh ok then... Is there any mods that i can do to my LSK without padding the plunger?
ReplyDeleteAnd also, does the LSK' s spring compress fully when primed?
Thanks
barrettm107cqbr,
ReplyDeleteWell, if you don't remove the air-restrictor and don't do anything to the stock spring, you don't need to pad the plunger, but then you wouldn't get much improvement in performance either.
The Longstrike's plunger spring compresses fully when primed.
Sg Nerf
ReplyDeletewhat is the range of the gun
is it powerful
jimmy,
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned in my review, the average stock range is around 25-30 ft.
hey i was just wondering you no the snipper scope on the longshot can u buy it separitally for the longstrike and where
ReplyDeletekieran,
ReplyDeleteThe Longshot scope is not sold separately, it is only packaged with Longshots.
is it worth the price
ReplyDeletethomas,
ReplyDeleteIt has similiar internals (and hence similar performance) as the other reverse plunger N-Strike blasters (ie. Recon, Deploy, Raider, Alpha Trooper)... so i guess it just depends on whether you like the design.
Most people buy the Longstrike mainly for it's design anyways. :)
thank once again
ReplyDeleteIf I were able to get either the Deploy or the Longstrike, which would you recommend I get?
ReplyDeleteJessen L.
ReplyDeleteLongstrike.
do you think i could fit the longshot's direct plunger system in to the longstrike? if not, which one should i buy?
ReplyDeleteHaoNan,
ReplyDeleteThe Longshot direct plunger is too large to fit into the Longstrike casing.
For modding potential, get the Longshot. It is also quite rare nowadays, therefore an ideal model to collect if you have the chance to get them. :)
SG Nerf,
ReplyDeletewhere do u get ur mods from?
HaoNan,
ReplyDeleteI post all my Mod Guides at my Mod Works blog site:
http://www.modworks.blogspot.com
If you are referring to modding materials, i get them mostly from various local stores in Singapore, you can check out a list of places that i posted in the modification materials directory thread at the NerfSG forum:
http://nerfsg.freeforums.org/modification-materials-directory-updated-30th-nov-2011-t930.html
thanks 4 the info:)
ReplyDeletehow big is the box
ReplyDeletepokedex14
DeleteThe box is around 62cm x 32cm x 11cm.
When You assemble the longstrike, do you have to take it apart?
ReplyDeleteYOur Mum,
DeleteAfter it is assembled, the front barrel attachment, flip sight and clip are still detachable... only the shoulder stock and priming handle are permanently attached.
SG Nerf
ReplyDeleteI am planning to replace the spring on my Longstrike with a 5kg OrangeModWorks spring, and
I was wondering about how much of a range increase I would get if I didn't remove the AR.(my gun has had about 2 years of very vigorous use and its spring has lost most of its power)
However, almost all of the screws holding the blaster together have stripped heads. I was wondering how i might be able to get them out without destroying them with a drill as then i wouldn't be able to reassemble the gun. If that is impossible, what size screws are the ones in the longstrike?
Thank you very much in advance and i love your blog. it is truly the best one out there for info on nerf and nerf style blasters.
Declan
Declan,
DeleteIf the AR is still intact, from my experience the amount of performance increase tends to be reduced by 40-50% compared to if the AR is removed, due to the air flow still being restricted.
Note that even with the ARs intact, the plunger impact is still higher because of the heavier spring load, so you should still install suitable plunger padding to absorb the additional impact forces.
As for the casing screws with stripped heads, i guess you could try using a new screwdriver with a "sharper" tip to get a better grip, or use wide rubber bands as a layer between to fill the stripped gaps when you are unscrewing them.
If you still can't get them out, then drilling them out would be the last resort, you can use M2.5 size machine screws to replace them.
Thank you for responding so quickly to my post,as always you were more helpful than anyone else out there.
ReplyDeleteI have another question. When the OrangeModWorks 5kg spring is installed, will it be possible to one hand prime the blaster (I have read about having to 2 hand prime it with the 6kg spring).
Also, will the life of the boltsled decrease dramatically when the new spring is in place?
Thanks
Declan
Declan,
DeleteWell, it depends on your own strength... for me, i usually install 6kg and at times up to 11kg aftermarket springs for my modded Longstrikes, but i can still prime them with one hand. I guess younger users might struggle with heavier spring loads.
Imho, if a user has difficulty priming heavier load springs, they could consider reverting back to the stock spring... or maybe hitting the gym to train up some strength. :)
With heavier spring loads, the boltsled will naturally undergo more stress, and it will tend to flex to one side during each priming action (especially when primed with one hand), so there is higher chances of it breaking.
You could reinforce it with metal brackets/braces or replace it with stronger aftermarket versions.
I had heard that the bolt flexed too much to be functional with the 6kg spring, check
ReplyDeletehttp://bazookafied.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/omw-longstrike-issues.html
Also, I read your recon mod guide, (very well done and informative by the way), but I am not quite sure what you mean when you say to drop the plunger padding into the plunger, how will it stay in place?
I cannot thank you enough for your prompt responses to my questions and they have been very helpful to me.
Thank you
Declan
Declan,
DeleteThe soft foam padding (Volkmar-Fix brand) that i use has an adhesive backing on one side, so that secures it to the bottom of the plunger tube. :)
If the padding you use doesn't have an adhesive side, then just use double-sided tape or some glue.
Thank you, do you know of any online retailers that sell these? (I live in Australia) Or should I check other forums like Oznerf?
ReplyDeleteThank you
Declan
Declan,
DeleteIf you are in Australia, i guess you can just check the websites of your local major dept stores, see which have the stock available online (and can do domestic shipping).
BigW was the white version of this gun on sale at the moment for AU$28.
DeleteAnother thing, (thank you for putting up with so many questions)
ReplyDeleteWhat is the perfect size screw driver to open the casing of the longstrike with.
Thank you
Declan
Declan,
DeleteMost Nerf blaster casing screws require the use of a #0 or #1 size phillips head screwdriver (depending on machine screw size).
Thank you very much for your help
ReplyDeleteDeclan :)
I really want to buy this but in whiteout series is it still available (UK)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
DeleteNot sure about stock availability in the UK, but some stores might still have remaining stock... i guess you'll have to shop around to find them.
Nice gun, Nice review. Can you please put up a pictur of this attached to the bandolier with the longshot scope on it thank you.
ReplyDelete:)
Anonymous,
DeleteI don't have the Bandolier kit. :)
Oh,ok well could you please put up a picture of this with the stampede bi-pod/forgrip(out)+the longshot scope if you have it thanks btw just curios what is, in your opinion the best looking nerf combo? Thanks again sgnerf! =D
DeleteAnonymous,
DeleteUnfortunately, i've traded away all my Longstrike units (i never use Longstrikes during actual games anyways), so i can't do anymore accessory combination photos.
Nice gun, love the fell of the bolt action. Got mine for 5$ here as "faulty" but nothing wrong with is, BEST DEAL EVER!
ReplyDeleteHow far is the distance when the barrel is being equipped.
ReplyDeleteHow much is it at ToysURUS (sry dk how spell it)
