Well, official Nerf tournaments are usually based on dart tag blasters... the use of velcro tipped foam darts and jerseys are how hits can be scored and recorded.
Have a look at the tournament rules and FAQ, they mention the use of dart tag equipment.

DeleteNope, all players will use blasters and ammo supplied by the tournament organizer.
The equipment can't be taken home though, only used during the tournament. :)
