The Nerf Rampage is a spring-powered direct plunger blaster. It is based on the same main exterior casing design and priming method as the Nerf Raider, but features a new blue Elite color scheme with white detailing.
"Slam Fire" mode is a feature in this blaster too. Just hold down the trigger, then pump the front grip repeatedly to fire a constant stream of foam darts, the rate-of-fire (RoF) will depend on how fast you pump the front grip.
It comes with the new 25-dart drum magazine and 25 x Elite foam darts. The drum magazine utilizes a centered tear-drop design, which improves its overall ergonomics and balance.
Elite foam darts are lighter than Streamline foam darts, and their tip weight are focused further forward to enhance performance. In addition, they can also be used with most Nerf blasters.
The Rampage combines the efficiency of it's direct plunger system and the new Elite foam darts to achieve longer ranges. The box states "fires up to 75ft".
It is compatible with most other N-Strike tactical rail accessories and shoulder stocks too.
Average stock range is around 45-55ft (parallel-to-ground) or 65-75ft (angled-to-ground).

DeleteI have an Alpha Trooper clip that says it can only hold 18 rounds but there is 2 extra spots for darts. So technically it's not going to cause any jams when the blaster's clips were designed to hold more than it says. I guess that it goes for this gun too. I'm probably getting it soon mainly because I don't have a Raider and don't like it's over-sized clip.

DeleteWell, accuracy depends on the foam darts used. The new Elite foam darts are slightly more consistent and accurate compared to Streamline foam darts... but they still do swerve and curve in flight (just less severe).
I would consider the Rampage better for actual Nerf games... because it is primed via a pump action fore-grip, has the slam-fire feature and comes with a 25-dart drum magazine.

The Rampage is also lighter, smaller and can fire faster than the Stampede. Batteries are expensive. The Stampede is expensive. The Stampede is too big to use one handed effectively and all battery powered blasters are a little slow to respond.
DeleteThe Rampage is probably the best possible blaster for most situations, it would be amazing in a group. It's main disadvantages are:
It's side loading, this makes it extremely awkward when not in your hands (so sidearms are hard to use). The drum is difficult to store. That being said, sidearms aren't as necessary with a blaster as versatile as the Rampage.
It lacks a stock, making it less stable.
The pistol grip front is less stable than a shotgun-style grip when slam-firing. That being said, you don't need to slam fire to shoot quickly. I never have slam fired.

DeleteMost of my blasters come in good condition out of the box, no scratches... at most just some very minor scuff marks (probably due to the production or packing process).
If you find noticeable scratches on your new unit, then maybe it could be a factory fault (or might even be a returned set that happen to be resold).
You should just exchange it at the store for a new set that is in good condition.

The Retaliator can be used as a clip-fed pistol (just use the main unit without the extension barrel and shoulder stock), so its very compact and maneuverable, good for indoor games and fast movement.
The Rampage has slam-fire mode and 25-dart drum magazine, so has more ammo capacity and van achieve faster rate-of-fire, but it has a larger for factor.
The Hail-Fire can hold the most clips and foam darts, its ideal for those who want alot of ammo capacity... but you have to buy many more clips separately and the whole unit is much more bulky to carry and use.
So it all depends on your user preference and the game environment.

DeleteFor stock blasters, the Elite blasters are currently the best blasters for mid to long range roles (they are designed for longer ranges), any of them will be suitable.
For short to mid range roles, get the Stampede, although it has shorter ranges in stock condition... its the only blaster that is clip-fed and can fire in full-auto, which makes it the best blaster amongst the older Nerf models.
Of course, if you are considering to mod the blasters, then the hierarchy changes... short range will be modded Elite Retaliator or Rampage, mid range will be modded Stampede, long range will be modded Longshot. This is due to the air volume size of their plungers and aftermarket spring choices, which affects their ranges after modding.

DeleteIf you slam-fire it properly by making sure the priming grip is pulled back and pushed forward fully during each shot, it should not jam at all.
Most jamming issues are due to the user either not priming it properly or rushing and priming it too quickly. In addition, sometimes the clips or drum magazines might be faulty too, which can also create jamming issues.
As for your 25-dart drum magazine, it should be able to fit at least 25 foam darts (even up to 26-27 foam darts). If it can only contain 18 foam darts, then something is faulty with that drum magazine.
In your case, it'll be best to just exchange the blaster and drum magazine at the store for a brand new (and working) set.

DeleteThe stock spring dimensions are approx. 99mm in length and 17.8mm in diameter.
A replacement spring should be as close as possible to the stock spring dimensions, but do note that if you use stronger springs, their spring wire will usually be thicker, so you'll need to adjust the overall dimensions so that it can still fit and operate properly within the plunger system.

Once it's installed, its designed to be permanently attached.
To remove the clip well, you have to open up the casing to detach it from the inside.

DeleteYes, all the drum magazines can be used in all the N-Strike-clip fed blasters.
Most players usually go for the highest capacity 35-dart drum magazine, but some prefer the smaller capacity drum magazines for the reduced bulk/weight and the more compact form factor (ie. easier to maneuver around if playing indoors with limited space).
In addition, the 18-dart drum magazine has an added benefit of being shorter compared to the 18-dart clip, so it wouldn't cause an obstruction on a Stampede if the user lays on the ground in prone position during a game.

DeleteYou'll have to totally re-do the whole internal breech design and pump section system, almost like reconstructing the blaster... imho, it's way too much modding work to be worth it.
It'll be easier just to get a Retaliator instead.

DeleteYes, the Rampage is better overall... but since you want to change the clip position, you'll need to go through a ton of work to mod it in that way (and try to get it to work properly), so might as well just get a Retaliator which already has the clip position configuration you prefer.
You're welcomed to try modding the Rampage to your design though, so far no one has done it that way so you'll be the pioneer. :)
After 3 hours of consecutive work, I have finally changed the clip position. I had to spend about $70 to get the parts. Do you know any spare part shops so that I can start working on the blaster to make it auto?

DeleteMine is the same way, I was just shooting and I realized that one of my darts didn't shoot. I imediately stoped and looked for a problem, there is not a dart stuck in it, but the slide will not pull back either so I can find out what went wrong.

DeleteMost likely the bolt lock mechanism in your blaster units are somehow mis-aligned or perhaps damaged, that prevents it from being primed.
You'll have to open up the casing and check it, if the bolt locks cannot be fixed, you could also just remove the bolt lock parts altogether and that issue will be solved... note that you will then have to be more careful when using it as there is a higher chance of mis-firing it during priming.

DeleteIt's usually the bolt lock mechanism that is interfering with the priming system, so you have to open up the casing and try to fix it.
If it's damaged or faulty, then your only option is to remove the bolt lock parts completely or just get a new working blaster.

DeleteThe Rough Cut is interesting, but due to its limited ammo capacity its more of a novelty blaster, or at best a secondary sidearm.
The Retaliator would be a more effective blaster for actual Nerf games as it uses the clip-fed system, hence higher ammo capacity and quicker reloading.

Hey SG nerf, how come your rampage is so much better compared to mine? my one can't even shoot 39 feet parallel to the ground. it can shoot 32 feet max flat. why is that? I bought my one in Paragon Shopping Mall in toysrus. Please help me decide if I should buy a new one on amazon. your one can shoot 50-60 feet flat. thats like frickin amazing. I think the reason it sucks because i shoot it a lot when there's no dart inside.

DeleteThere shouldn't be any difference in performance whether you buy locally or from overseas, they are all the same, i also have Rampage units bought from local stores and they also get 50-60ft flat ranges too.
Most likely you got a faulty unit, or something is somehow damaged inside the blaster.
Is the rampage accurate enough to have at least 9 out of 25 darts hit a 5 feet by 2.5 feet plank of wood from 35-40 feet away?

DeleteWith good aiming and new foam darts, you should be able to get 90-100% hits at that short distance and with such a large target.
The accuracy usually starts to drop at the longer distances as the foam darts will tend to swerve as they travel further.
Is the rampage worth it? I once had a raider but it broke on me in less than two days of playing with it. If i do get the rampage, what do you suggest doing to prevent it from breaking/ messed up

Hi, I am going to be getting a slam fire weapon soon. I used to have the original alpha trooper, but I sold it, yet I kept the drum (I sold it with a 6 dart clip). I am debating between getting the rampage or getting the new elite alpha trooper. Does anyone here have an opinion? I will not mod the gun, I can't even mod a nite finder :). The reason I am worried about getting the rampage is the the absence of a stock. The alpha trooper I like to fire without aiming, but I did like to use aim with the stock whenever I used my friend's raider. Also, I will only be using the gun indoors. Please respond with what gun you would think to be best and why.

As for the shoulder stock, just buy them separately from sellers on Nerf forum or eBay.

The drum shouldn't get in the way, though it also depends on how you hold it while firing... though the Rampage uses a pump action fore-grip which favors shoulder level firing, but if you like to fire from the hip, then the Alpha Trooper would be more suitable.
One more question (expect a series of seemingly never-ending questions), how maneuverable is the rampage. It seems as though the alpha trooper would be albe to move around much more easily than the rampage.
